Initial findings from Arm’s upcoming AI Barometer survey reveal that over 90 percent of global business leaders have put AI into practice in some way. The widespread, fast adoption of AI into commercial environments is already transforming how businesses operate, enabling a range of productivity and efficiency improvements. A McKinsey report estimated that AI’s impact on productivity could add trillions of dollars to the global economy.

Introducing Cristal intelligence

The ability of AI to drive business improvements is part of the reason why OpenAI and the SoftBank Group announced a new partnership to develop and market Advanced Enterprise AI called “Cristal intelligence.” This features the latest and most advanced models developed by OpenAI, with all SoftBank Group companies gaining priority access.

Arm will be one of the companies that benefit from Cristal intelligence, adopting the technologies to drive innovation and boost productivity across the business. It will help to transform existing management and operational practices through automating everyday tasks, allowing employees to focus more on creative and strategic decision-making. Moreover, existing AI tools, like ChatGPT Enterprise, will be available to all Arm employees.

The rise of AI agents

At the core of Cristal intelligence is OpenAI’s models that are evolving from those that are capable of reasoning to new AI agents that can execute tasks independently. Arm, OpenAI and SoftBank have a shared vision to enable these AI agents at scale to make every worker more effective and productive, while empowering them to solve ever more complex problems. Looking ahead, Cristal intelligence’s AI agents will lay the groundwork for even more advanced systems that can learn and adapt to any company’s needs.

Arm is the compute platform for AI

Alongside the internal adoption of Cristal intelligence, the Arm compute platform provides the performance, power-efficiency and scalability to meet the high computing demands of new AI agents, from cloud to edge. For developers, Arm’s KleidiAI libraries will allow their AI agents’ workloads to seamlessly run across all major frameworks and common software operating systems with no or minimal development work required. As Rene Haas, Arm CEO, says: “We are at the forefront of the AI evolution, and our high-performance, power-efficient compute is going to be critical to advancing Cristal intelligence.

Moreover, the pervasiveness of the Arm compute platform, which touches 100 percent of the connected global population, is supporting the ongoing democratization of AI. As a result, new AI tools and technologies, like Cristal intelligence, are more accessible to all employees and job types – beyond AI researchers and data scientists – who can then integrate these into their everyday workflows, from financial reporting to customer service queries.

Driving the AI revolution across businesses

The rise of AI is providing unprecedented improvement opportunities across all industries. As the evolution of new models and business investment continues to grow, AI will be commonplace throughout the workplaces of the future, driving innovation and productivity.

Arm is committed to working with OpenAI and SoftBank to unleash the full potential of AI, with Cristal intelligence helping to revolutionize how businesses operate globally. We cannot wait to see the full benefits of the technologies in action across the Arm business and beyond, with the Arm compute platform at the heart of these improvements.
