Arm AGI CPU is coming to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

The planned offering builds on OCI’s adoption of Arm-based compute portfolio to support the growing demands of general-purpose cloud workloads and agentic AI
By Mohamed Awad, Executive Vice President, Cloud AI, Arm

At Oracle AI World, Oracle outlined plans to bring Arm AGI CPU to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) in fall 2027. The planned offering will give customers high-performance Arm compute for both the cloud applications they run today and the agentic AI services they are building next.

This builds on our announcement at COMPUTEX that OCI was joining the Arm AGI CPU ecosystem, taking our collaboration forward with a roadmap for bringing that compute to Oracle’s customers.

Arm’s expanding role across OCI

Arm is already an important foundation for OCI’s compute portfolio. Ampere-powered Arm offerings support workloads spanning enterprise applications, containers, web services and data processing. NVIDIA’s Arm-based Vera CPUs, now generally available on OCI, expand that foundation with high-performance compute for agentic AI and enterprise workloads. The planned addition of Arm AGI CPU will further broaden this portfolio, reinforcing Arm’s growing role across Oracle’s cloud and AI infrastructure.

“Arm-based compute is an important part of how we deliver performance, efficiency and choice to OCI customers,” said Mahesh Thiagarajan, President, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. “With Arm AGI CPU, we plan to extend those benefits across general-purpose cloud workloads and agentic AI, giving customers more high-performance compute options to scale their applications and build new AI services.”

High-performance compute for cloud and agentic AI

The opportunity spans established cloud workloads and new demands created by AI. Agents depend on applications, databases and services to complete their work. They also create additional CPU demand as they execute code, retrieve data, invoke tools and coordinate tasks. Infrastructure needs to support both efficiently, at scale.

Arm AGI CPU brings together high-performance Arm Neoverse cores, high memory bandwidth and a design built for sustained performance under load. These capabilities are intended to deliver more useful work within the power and cooling limits of the data center, supporting the performance and efficiency that cloud applications and agentic systems need.

Just as importantly, this expansion builds on an established software foundation. OCI’s investment in Arm already spans Oracle Linux, Java, MySQL and widely used cloud-native tools, giving developers a familiar ecosystem as their compute options grow.

For us, this is what progress across the Arm ecosystem should deliver: more innovation, more choice and more ways for customers to put high-performance compute to work. With Oracle, we are extending that opportunity across the applications enterprises depend on today and the AI services that will shape what comes next.
