Arm compute platform strengthens Indonesia’s technology sovereignty
Indonesia is accelerating its commitment to build a resilient, innovation-led digital economy – one which is rooted in local capabilities, long-term talent development, and sovereign technology foundations. As part of this ongoing transformation, Arm and Danantara Indonesia have entered into a new strategic partnership to enable local AI and semiconductor innovation through the Arm Total Access program, alongside comprehensive training initiatives for Indonesia’s future semiconductor design workforce.
Danantara Indonesia is the sovereign investment institution of the Republic of Indonesia, established to optimize national assets and attract global investment. With an independent mandate and strong governance, Danantara Indonesia acts as a catalyst for economic transformation by managing more than 1,000 state-owned enterprises and affiliated entities across strategic sectors nationwide, improving efficiency, and creating long-term value at national scale.
The deal, which was officially signed in a closed-door ceremony with the President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, and Arm CEO Rene Haas on Monday 23rd February in London, reflects a shared commitment to strengthen Indonesia’s technology sovereignty and build foundational capabilities to compete in a rapidly evolving global digital economy.
Cultivating semiconductor and AI capabilities
As part of the new partnership, Danantara Indonesia will leverage Arm’s high-performance, power-efficient compute platform through the Arm Total Access program. Across edge, physical and cloud AI, Arm provides the scalable foundation necessary for modern AI workloads, while maintaining the power efficiency that is critical for sustainable digital growth.
The partnership also includes comprehensive training programs for the country’s future workforce, equipping engineers, developers and innovators with the skills required to design and optimize next-generation solutions.
By combining access to Arm’s leading compute platform with large-scale talent development, the collaboration helps to underpin Indonesia’s AI compute sovereignty, ensuring that the country can build, deploy and scale AI capabilities locally, and foster long-term ecosystem growth.
Growing commitment to Southeast Asia
Across Southeast Asia, governments and enterprises are accelerating investments in AI, data infrastructure and semiconductor ecosystems to build a competitive technology-driven global economy. This ambition increasingly means developing AI capabilities that allow nations to design, build and optimize technologies that underpin critical technology infrastructure.
The Arm compute platform is uniquely positioned to enable that vision. Unlike vertically integrated providers that require customers to purchase finished chips developed elsewhere, Arm’s global ecosystem of partners empowers companies and countries to design and manufacture their own semiconductors locally. This flexibility enables custom silicon tailored to regional needs and ensures greater control over technology roadmaps and supply chains – all built on the world’s most pervasive and power-efficiency compute architecture.
A shared vision for the future
The collaboration between Arm and Danantara Indonesia signals a shared commitment to foster long-term innovation, strengthen domestic technology capabilities, and advance the country’s role in the global semiconductor and AI landscape.
Together, Arm and Danantara Indonesia are laying the foundation for a new era of technology sovereignty, empowering Indonesia to accelerate its innovation-led economic transformation.
